EU Craft project 3D MultiCam

12.02.2007 Accurate and instantaneous sub sea measurements using laser projection and parallelized close range photogrammetry.
The project focuses on enabling greater competitiveness and internationalisation to the large group of European small and medium sized (SME) enterprises in the shipbuilder and -repair sector and oil and gas industry, by making available a new tool for accurate and fast 3D measurement.

LensesThe project sets out to enable these enterprises greater competitiveness and internationalisation through meeting an identified industrial need, namely the need for accurate and fast sub sea 3D measurement. The SMEs in these industries faces serious international competition from either low-priced Asian Pacific offerings or the import of high-tech US products. They therefore share a need to develop new markets and new supply chains with advanced, innovative, high technology, value-added products in order to stay ahead.

The new tool, the 3DMultiCam, will enable us to provide a new and value added service we have identified an industrial need for in the market.

We will develop the 3DMultiCam based on the current state-of-the art technology.

The partnership behind this project constitutes of an entire value chain for delivering both the tool to the market and serving the identified industrial need. An end-user group representing the target markets is also included.

For Tordivel this program will expand the capabilities of the high-speed 3D Machine Vision Framework Scorpion Vision Software significantly. At the end of the program, the framework will be proven and containing all 3D elements: 3D camera calibration, 2D and 3D image capture, 3D visualization and 3D image processing and photogrammetry in a non-programming environment.

Budget: 2 million Euro

Duration: 2006 – 2008

Consortium: Tordivel AS (project leader), Teknologisk Institutt AS, Blom Maritime AS, PERA Innovation Ltd., BP Exploration Operating Company Ltd., Laseroptronix AB, Ideal Teknoloji, MediaLas Laserproducts GmbH, BTT Automatyka Sp.z., Estalairos Navais SA, CT Offshore ApS
